Wildlife Art Commissions

Commission a painting

Perhaps you would like a bespoke wildlife art commission to remind you of a special experience or as a gift for someone with a particular interest.

Feel free to ask any questions

Commissioning a painting is an opportunity to acquire a truly bespoke artwork, uniquely tailored to your interests, collection or interior.

Popular wildlife painting subjects can sell quickly, so if you have a particular painting in mind, commissioning an artwork may be the best way to secure exactly what you are looking for.

A commission offers the opportunity to own a painting created specifically for you; something personal, distinctive and likely to be enjoyed for many years.

The Commission Process

How Commissions Work

Things to Consider

Things to Consider

Working Together

A Collaborative Process

The most successful commissions arise when there is a balance between the client’s vision and my experience as an artist. While I welcome ideas and quality reference material, the final composition and artistic decisions remain part of the creative process.

I only accept commissions that genuinely inspire me and where I believe I can produce a painting worthy of both the subject and the client.

Price Guide

Commissions generally begin at around £2,000, with larger works extending into five -figure values. Final prices depend on size, complexity, fieldwork, research requirements and timescale.

Why Commission a Painting?

Popular subjects and larger paintings can occasionally sell before reaching the website. A commission offers the opportunity to acquire a painting tailored specifically to your interests, collection and interior.

Selected Commission Highlights
First Refusal Option

Removing the uncertainty from commissioning artwork

For suitable subjects, I am often willing to undertake commissions on a first refusal basis.

Once completed, the painting can be viewed in person or approved from a high-resolution image. Many clients find this arrangement removes much of the uncertainty that can accompany commissioning an original painting.

This approach has proved very successful over many years and, on the rare occasions a commission has not proceeded due to changed circumstances, the completed painting has subsequently found a home elsewhere.

Enjoy painting progress updates

Many clients enjoy receiving progress images as a painting develops. These updates provide an insight into the creative process and often become part of the story and provenance of the finished artwork.

The paintings shown below are examples of previous landscape and wildlife art commissions created for clients.

Availability & Deadlines

Planning Your Commission

I often have a number of commissions and personal projects in progress, so completion dates vary throughout the year. If your painting is required for a particular occasion or deadline, please mention this during our initial discussion and I will advise whether it can be accommodated.

Larger & Specialist Commissions

Complex Projects

Particularly large paintings or projects requiring extensive research, travel or design development may require a deposit and staged payments. These arrangements are discussed individually before work begins.
